متى نستخدم الماضي البسيط؟
يستخدم الماضي البسيط (Past Simple) للتعبير عن حدث بدأ وانتهى في وقت محدد في الماضي:
- I visited the bank yesterday.
- The company opened a new branch in 2020.
- She finished the report two hours ago.
الأفعال المنتظمة (Regular Verbs)
نكوّن الماضي منها بإضافة ed إلى الفعل:
- القاعدة العامة: work تصبح worked، start تصبح started.
- الفعل المنتهي بـ e نضيف d فقط: live تصبح lived، change تصبح changed.
- الفعل المنتهي بحرف ساكن ثم y نحذف y ونضيف ied: study تصبح studied، carry تصبح carried. أما play فتصبح played.
- الفعل القصير المنتهي بحرف ساكن قبله حرف علة واحد نضاعف الحرف الأخير: stop تصبح stopped، plan تصبح planned.
نطق ed
تُنطق ed بثلاث طرق:
- "ت" بعد الأصوات المهموسة مثل: worked, stopped, finished.
- "د" بعد الأصوات المجهورة وحروف العلة مثل: called, played, lived.
- "إد" بعد صوتي t وd: wanted, needed, started.
الأفعال غير المنتظمة (Irregular Verbs)
لا تأخذ ed، بل لها صيغ خاصة يجب حفظها. من أكثرها استخداماً:
- go تصبح went
- have تصبح had
- do تصبح did
- make تصبح made
- buy تصبح bought
- sell تصبح sold
- pay تصبح paid
- send تصبح sent
- write تصبح wrote
- take تصبح took
- get تصبح got
- see تصبح saw
- come تصبح came
- give تصبح gave
- meet تصبح met
ولا يتغير الفعل في الماضي حسب الفاعل؛ فنقول I went وhe went وthey went.
النفي
نستخدم did not (didn't) مع الفعل في صورته الأصلية:
- I didn't go to work yesterday. (وليس didn't went)
- They didn't pay the invoice.
- She didn't call me.
السؤال
نبدأ بـ Did ثم الفاعل ثم الفعل الأصلي:
- Did you send the email? Yes, I did. / No, I didn't.
- Did the customer pay? Yes, he did.
- Where did you buy this computer? When did the meeting start?
ونلاحظ أن did تحمل علامة الماضي، فيرجع الفعل الأساسي إلى صورته الأصلية في النفي والسؤال.
الماضي من فعل الكينونة
تذكّر أن فعل be له في الماضي صيغتان: was وwere، ولا يحتاج إلى did:
- He was in Tripoli last week. Were you at the meeting? I wasn't ready.
كلمات دالة على الماضي البسيط
yesterday, last week, last month, last year, two days ago, in 2019, this morning (إذا انتهى الصباح).
فقرة نموذجية
Last month, our company had a busy week. On Sunday, the manager met the new clients. On Monday, we prepared the contracts and sent them by email. The clients signed the contracts on Wednesday. They paid the first payment on Thursday. We didn't rest much, but we were very happy with the results.
تمرين
حوّل إلى الماضي:
- She buys a new phone. الجواب: She bought a new phone.
- They don't work on Friday. الجواب: They didn't work on Friday.
- Do you write the report? الجواب: Did you write the report?
